I think this is a very desirable location.  Could do the gondola, etc easily from here. I contacted the owner.  They are bulldozing this place in May and building something new.  He said he had a comparable one for $550.  I said I didn't see how $550 was comparable to $299.  He said you aren't going to find anything for $299/night that sleeps 10.


In Teton Village, ie Jackson Hole resort, can take a gondola up 4000 ft in 12 minutes.  Restaurant, waffles, booze, bungee ride, rock climbing, etc.

In the park (Yellowstone) (nights 3-6):
There are some hotels in Yellowstone, but they are expensive, don't offer a place for the kids to play together, and don't have kitchens, so we'd have to buy all of our meals in the park eateries.
Roosevelt lodge is the closest to the Lamar Valley, but is only open Jun 7 - Sept 3.
Second closest is Canyon Lodge, open May 30 - Sept 20.
Grant Village (inside the park), room with 2 double beds, $164/night with 2 adults and 2 kids.
Old Faithful Snow Lodge, is between $105 and $239/night for a family of 4.  The $165/night is available wold be $660 for 4 nights
Old Faithful Lodge budget cabin 2 double beds, communal toilets and showers $73/night for a family of 4 $292 for 4 nights

$350/night, 6 brm, sleeps 17, 3 night minimum stay.  just outside Yellowstone, called owner and left message asking about cleaning fee and more accurate location info.  As of 10/15, the owner got back to me, the cleaning fee is included, the location is in "old town" West Yellowstone, 2 blocks from restaurants and shops.  This place looks like a nicer living room space than Faithful Street Inn.  We are to call the owners once we have arrived.  We've put a deposit down, and owe an additional $1190 after arrival.  They will come to the cabin to collect the balance.  Linens and towels are provided as is dish soap.  The washing machine and dryer in the cabin is "coin operated".  There is satelite and a 60" TV.  Check in is after 5p on 9/22 and check out is 10am on 9/26.

Because we are staying for only one night, we cannot get a rental home, so hotels are the only option:

Casey and I booked this one.
